Consultant - Data Solutions Analyst
Convert complex data into actionable business insights by building strong contextual and domain knowledge. This individual will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, Data Stewards, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to deliver scalable analytics and business intelligence solutions. Direct impact on the redesign of Data Marts and Data Models, enabling leadership and end users to leverage enhanced reporting and self-service analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner cross-functionally with business teams and leadership to develop and implement Business Intelligence strategies
- Lead BI-specific project workstreams from concept through implementation
- Generate actionable insights through analysis of key metrics across functions
- Perform deep data analysis to identify root causes and design data-driven solutions
- Contribute to the redesign and optimization of Data Marts and enterprise Data Models
- Build and maintain documentation to support data interpretation and self-service reporting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 7+ years of experience analyzing and modeling large, complex datasets (preferably within higher education)
- Strong experience writing complex SQL queries across multiple joined datasets
- Proven experience developing dashboards and reports
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Cognos, or QuickSight
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data warehousing concepts
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
- Knowledge of data security concepts
- Experience supporting higher education administrative functions
Consultant - Data Solutions Engineer
Build data solutions that are resilient and scalable for both primary domain and cross-domain analytics. Implement data engineering best practices and standards at the DataMart level. This role serves as the bridge with a focus on data usability for the business, while partnering with Data Platform Engineers who handle infrastructure reliability. Lead projects across teams in Advancement, HR, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data models and lead projects for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards
- Interface with the Data Platform team to extract, transform, and load data from various sources using AWS services and internal tools
- Build, optimize and deliver high quality datasets to support administrative data needs
- Lead continuous improvement projects, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
- Translate business problem statements into data model requirements
- Troubleshoot operational quality issues pertaining to data processing and orchestration code written in SQL/Python
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 10 years of data engineering experience including programming, data modeling, warehousing, and building data pipelines
- Experience with modern databases such as Snowflake and Redshift
- Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster
- Experience with AWS technologies such as S3, AWS Glue, dbt, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large data sets
- Experience in a scripting language (Python, PySpark, Java, Scala)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing technical leadership and educating other engineers on best practices
- Familiarity with BI tools and Data Science models
Consultant - Technical Program Manager, Data Solutions
Accountable for delivering comprehensive data solutions encompassing DataMarts, tools, reports, dashboards, AI/ML models and metadata. Lead the project Operating Committee, related working groups, and execution of the data solutions roadmap while aligning with data governance policies. Drive implementation of technical tasks while monitoring dependencies and reporting key risks, issues, and blockers. Serve as the first point of escalation for Data Solutions and Access issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data solutions for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards
- Set comprehensive data solutions roadmap to deliver redesign of data models supporting systems integrations and cross-functional analytics
- Lead high level and detailed technical design with senior engineers to create compliant and efficient architecture
- Drive implementation of technical tasks, monitoring key dependencies and reporting risks, issues, and blockers
- Lead Functional Committees and Working Groups
- Collaborate with stakeholders to reach foundational decisions
- Engage with users across all levels to understand needs, promote data literacy, and improve data offerings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 7 years of experience in data management, data engineering or related roles including technical product or program management
- Experience with data management tools and technologies, such as metadata repositories, ETL, ELT, Data Orchestration and APIs
- Experience with BI tools such as Cognos, Tableau or QuickSight
- Experience in writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries across large data sets
- Proven success communicating with business users, technical teams, and senior management
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams
- Experience in complex, decentralized organizations, preferably higher education
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
- Experience modeling and implementing complex data solutions
- Experience with Data modelling and reporting tools
- Master's degree
